Citadel Source are delighted to be partnering with a leading retail brand in Gloucestershire to support the search for a new Risk Manager, to play a pivotal role in leading their risk and compliance function. The role will expand alongside the scaling of the risk function, with the view of becoming a “Head of” in the future.
The role
As the Risk Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of risk management and compliance frameworks across the Group, bringing a thoughtful and pragmatic approach to enterprise risk management. You will establish adequate documentation of existing controls, in addition to new control areas that you identify.
About you
The ideal candidate will be a qualified professional (e.g. ACCA, ACA) with a strong foundation in internal/external audit, controls and risk management. You will have a strong understanding of risk management frameworks, compliance regulations, and industry best practices, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
As the Risk Manager, your role will include, but not be limited to:
Risk Management:
- Lead the identification, assessment, and management of risks across the organisation
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy, appropriate controls
- Oversee risk mitigation efforts, ensuring appropriate controls are in place
- Advise senior management on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and potential threats to the business
Compliance Oversight:
- Ensure the organisation complies with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and controls to meet regulatory standards
- Liaise with the Audit and Risk Committee Chair to develop an Internal Audit plan, and organise this with external partners
- Provide advice and training to staff on compliance matters, promoting a strong culture of compliance within the organisation
- Act in future as the Group’s Data Protection Officer, taking ownership from current outsourced DPO after appropriate training and advising the business on any arising GDPR issues
Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare regular risk and compliance reports for senior leadership and the Group Board of Directors, giving the Board assurance that material controls are functioning
- Ensure clear and effective communication of risks and compliance issues across the organisation
Strategic Development:
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation by providing expert insight on risk and compliance matters
- Support the development of new business initiatives by identifying and managing associated risks
- Ensure the organisation’s risk appetite aligns with its business objectives and operational capabilities

- A salary of up to £70,000
