Citadel Source are delighted to be supporting a fast-growing, private equity-backed business in recruiting a Financial Accountant. This is a key role within a high-performing finance team, helping to scale and professionalise the finance function.
The role
The Financial Accountant will play a critical role in delivering accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and audit-ready outputs in a private equity-backed environment. You will work closely with senior finance leadership and operational teams, taking ownership of core accounting processes while supporting commercial decision-making. This role suits a technically strong accountant who thrives under high expectations, enjoys detail-focused work, and values being part of a high-performing finance team.
As a Financial Accountant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Own the month-end close process and deliver accurate management accounts to tight deadlines
- Prepare month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Produce statutory accounts and manage the year-end audit process
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare information for corporation tax returns and manage payments on account
- Prepare and review VAT returns; liaise with external advisors
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and private equity reporting requirements
- Partner with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insight and challenge
- Identify and implement process and control improvements
- Support finance system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage the transactional finance team
What the client is looking for
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or finalist with strong experience)
- Proven experience in a practice or similar role
- Strong technical accounting and statutory reporting knowledge
- Comfortable analysing data, with strong Excel skills
- Able to work to pace and manage competing deadlines
- Commercially aware, proactive, and detail-focused
- Strong communicator, confident engaging with all levels of the business
