Citadel Source are delighted to be supporting a large international Engineering organisation operating within a complex multi-entity environment that is seeking a technically strong and commercially aware Group Financial Controller. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this role will play a key part in leading financial operations during a period of organisational change and continued growth.
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of group financial reporting, consolidation, governance, and financial control activities within a dynamic and fast-paced business environment. The successful candidate will lead a qualified finance team whilst driving financial accuracy, process improvement, and strong control frameworks across the organisation.
As a Group Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Group Reporting & Consolidation
- Lead the monthly group reporting and consolidation process across multiple entities
- Coordinate and review intercompany reconciliations
- Ensure reporting deadlines are achieved, and accounting standards are consistently applied
- Maintain oversight of group balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
- Support the year-end audit process and manage external auditor relationships
- Ensure consistency of accounting treatment and reporting across the wider business
- Support maintenance and development of group reporting systems and financial data integrity
- Work closely with FP&A and wider finance teams on reporting, forecasting, and cash flow activities
Financial Control & Compliance
- Support preparation of statutory accounts and associated regulatory filings
- Assist with ongoing compliance and governance requirements across the organisation
- Maintain and develop accounting policies, controls, and governance frameworks
- Ensure robust month-end close processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
- Review and strengthen internal financial controls and reporting accuracy
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Manage, support, and develop members of the finance function, including qualified and part-qualified staff
- Assist with workload planning, performance management, and team development
- Prepare financial reporting packs and analysis for senior stakeholders
- Respond to finance-related queries across the business
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Support finance transformation and process improvement initiatives
- Drive operational efficiencies and improvements across finance processes and reporting
- Undertake ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, and project-based work as required
About you
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge and experience operating within a complex, multi-entity environment.
Candidates will ideally demonstrate:
- Strong group reporting and consolidation experience
- Experience within financial control, governance, or group finance functions
- Previous experience managing or mentoring finance professionals
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Strong systems capability, including advanced Excel skills and exposure to finance/reporting systems
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach within a changing environment
