Working closely with the CFO and senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the finance function, leading the design and delivery of a transformational finance agenda that enhances processes, systems, controls, and ways of working. About you
You will possess a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery capability, with experience of designing and implementing finance operating models, improving finance processes, and delivering systems and digital transformation initiatives. You will be an engaging leader who can build strong relationships across Finance, IT, Operations and Commercial teams, influencing stakeholders at all levels. The successful candidate will be passionate about continuous improvement, innovation, and leveraging technology to create more efficient, scalable finance operations.
The role
Reporting into the CFO and working closely with the wider finance leadership team, this is a critical role responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation’s finance transformation strategy while ensuring operational excellence across core finance services. You will lead the development and implementation of a finance transformation roadmap, oversee key systems and digital initiatives, and drive improvements across finance processes, controls, governance and reporting. The role combines strategic leadership with practical execution, requiring someone who can translate long-term vision into measurable outcomes.
As the Head of Finance Transformation & Operations, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design and implementation of the organisation’s finance target operating model
- Developing and delivering a clear, prioritised finance transformation roadmap
- Driving finance technology, automation and digital enablement programmes
- Leading finance systems optimisation, upgrades and ERP-related initiatives
- Improving finance data quality, reporting capabilities and business insights
- Enhancing core finance processes across Record-to-Report (R2R), Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (O2C)
- Strengthening financial controls, governance frameworks and audit readiness
- Delivering end-to-end transformation projects across people, process and technology
- Building strong partnerships with Finance, IT, Operations and Commercial stakeholders
- Leading and developing Finance Project Delivery and Digital & Systems teams
- Managing a portfolio of transformation and operational improvement initiatives
- Driving adoption of new systems, processes and ways of working across the organisation
- Supporting the CFO and senior leadership team in key strategic decision-making
- Embedding a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and operational excellence
What the client is looking for
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Significant experience leading finance transformation and operating model design
- Strong understanding of finance operations, governance and control environments
- Experience delivering ERP implementations, systems enhancements and digital transformation projects
- Proven ability to lead complex change programmes within multi-site or global organisations
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Experience of process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma would be advantageous
- A collaborative leadership style and passion for developing high-performing teams
