Citadel Source is partnering with a successful, growing South West business to recruit a Head of Finance. This pivotal leadership role is ideal for an ambitious qualified accountant who wants to make a meaningful impact in a high-performing organisation, combining strong financial stewardship with commercial insight and continuous improvement.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, lead a team of finance professionals while supporting strategic decision-making across the business. Operating within a complex, high-volume environment, you will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, strengthen financial controls, and help drive operational and commercial performance. The role
You will oversee the smooth running of the finance function, ensuring robust financial governance, accurate reporting, and effective business partnering across the organisation.
As a Head of Finance, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team, promoting a high-performance culture
- Owning the month-end and year-end close processes, delivering timely and accurate financial reporting
- Ensuring the accurate calculation and reporting of revenue, cost of goods sold and inventory
- Delivering strong financial controls, data integrity and governance across the business
- Managing stock accounting and overseeing the annual stock take process
- Supporting the CFO in delivering best-in-class Board reporting and financial insight
- Driving budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes
- Enhancing management information and reporting to support commercial decision-making
- Partnering with operational leaders to improve business performance and profitability
- Supporting cash management, working capital optimisation and return on investment initiatives
- Working closely with Finance Business Partners to provide meaningful performance analysis
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across finance processes, systems and reporting
About you
You will be a technically strong and commercially minded finance leader who enjoys operating within a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working both strategically and operationally, you will have a proven track record of delivering excellent financial control while supporting business growth and performance improvement.
The successful candidate will possess:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
- Post-qualified experience within a complex commercial business
- Previous financial management experience within a high-performing finance function
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls
- Experience managing general ledger, AP and AR functions
- Proven experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
- Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills
- The ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams
- Excellent analytical, reporting and problem-solving capabilities
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
Desirable experience
- Manufacturing or other high-volume operational environment experience
- Experience managing inventory and stock accounting processes
- FP&A exposure
- Strong systems and data skills, including Power BI and advanced Excel
- Experience working with ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Knowledge of SQL, VBA, AI-enabled tools or advanced reporting solutions
