Our client is a well-established, multi-division organisation operating across a diverse range of revenue streams and long-term commercial partnerships. Backed by an excellent reputation within its sector, the business continues to invest in growth, innovation, and operational excellence. The role

Reporting to the CFO, the Commercial Finance Director will lead Commercial Finance, FP&A and business partnering activities across the organisation. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will translate financial insight into commercial action, ensuring the business maximises revenue, profitability, and return on investment. This is a highly commercial role, blending strategic influence with hands-on leadership. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, investment appraisal, and contract evaluation whilst partnering closely with operational, commercial and executive stakeholders to drive growth and performance. Alongside core commercial finance responsibilities, you will play a leading role in developing reporting capabilities, enhancing forecasting accuracy, strengthening decision-making frameworks, and driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives across finance and the wider business.

About you

You will combine excellent analytical capability with strong leadership skills, bringing the credibility and commercial mindset required to operate effectively at Executive and Board level. Experience leading transformation, systems improvements or automation initiatives would be highly advantageous.

As a Commercial Finance Director, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead Commercial Finance, FP&A and business partnering activities across the organisation
  • Partner with the CFO and senior leadership team to deliver commercial and financial strategy

  • Drive margin enhancement through profitability analysis, pricing optimisation, and cost initiatives
  • Partner with operational and commercial leaders on business cases and strategic projects
  • Strengthen commercial governance, risk management, and financial controls
  • Champion data, BI reporting, process improvement, and finance automation initiatives
  • Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing commercial finance team, building future capability and succession plans
