Citadel Source are pleased to be working with an established professional services firm in Bristol who are seeking an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a supervisory role within a friendly, collaborative environment and play a key part in strengthening credit control processes during a period of continued growth.

The Role

Working closely with colleagues across finance and the wider business, you will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of complex and aged debt, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring the smooth management of outstanding accounts. You’ll also support and guide team members, helping to develop capability within the credit control function.

As a Senior Credit Controller, your role will include, but not be limited to:

• Manage and recover a portfolio of high‑value, complex and aged debt

• Proactively pursue outstanding invoices via phone, email and written communication

• Develop tailored collection strategies and negotiate payment arrangements

• Provide support and guidance to credit control colleagues, ensuring targets are met

• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and clients

• Maintain accurate debtor records and ensure all collection activity is fully documented

• Investigate and resolve invoice, billing and payment queries

• Monitor high‑risk accounts and advise on potential bad debt exposure

• Provide regular updates on debtor performance and collection activity

• Identify opportunities to improve credit control processes and reduce debtor days

• Support system and process improvements aligned with cash collection targets

• Occasional travel to other UK offices

About You

You are an experienced credit control professional with strong knowledge of debt recovery processes and a confident, proactive approach. You’ll be comfortable managing complex debtor portfolios and communicating effectively with senior stakeholders, clients and internal teams.

Requirements:

• Significant experience in credit control, ideally within professional services

• Proven success managing complex debtor portfolios and aged debt recovery

• Previous supervisory experience or readiness to step into a supervisory role

• Strong negotiation, influencing and relationship‑building skills

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences

• Strong IT skills and confidence working with finance systems

• Professional, organised and results‑focused approach
